I work as a Criminologist assigned to the Coordination of the Penitentiary System of the State of Michoacán de Ocampo, Penitentiary Center for High Impact Crimes
I work as a Criminologist attached to the State Commission for Attention to Victims of the State of Michoacán, developing the Victim Information System of the State of Michoacán
Currently attached to the List of Experts in Criminology of the Judicial Branch of the State of Michoacán, working in private expertise in family and criminal matters.

La criminología cobra verdadero sentido cuando el conocimiento puede comprender los fenómenos complejos, dialogar con distintas disciplinas y convertirse en herramientas para la prevención y la intervención eficaz y efectivamente.
La trayectoria de María G. Barrera se ha construido precisamente en ese punto de encuentro: entre la investigación y la práctica, entre el ámbito institucional, el académico y social, entre la comprensión criminológica y la defensa de los derechos humanos.
Más de una década de experiencia profesional, formación especializada, intervención en contextos institucionales, actividad académica, divulgación y creación de proyectos orientados a fortalecer la criminología, contribuir a la prevención de violencias y criminalidad y su correcta aplicación son parte de los cimentos en que s edifica este espacio.
